The City of Norton has various boards and committees that meet to discuss a variety of topics and issues and make recommendations to the Governing Body. Norton Housing Authority Board
Norton Housing Authority Board is a five-member board appointed by the Mayor for four-year terms. The Board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon. This Board provides the policy-making for management of the Norton Manor. To be a member on the Board you must be a City resident or live within 5 miles of city limits.Norton Convention & Tourism Committee
Norton Convention & Tourism Committee is a ten-member board (representing community interests for the Lodging Industry, the Service Industry and Association Groups) appointed by the Mayor for two-year terms. The Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon. This Committee administers the revenue received from the local hotel/motel guest tax.Norton Planning Commission
Norton Planning Commission is a seven-member board appointed by the Mayor for three-year terms. The Commission meets the last Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. This Commission plans, zones and administers subdivision regulations within the City limits. (5 members are City residents; 2 members live outside City, but within a 3 mile radius of City limits.)Norton Library Board
Norton Library Board is a seven-member board appointed by the Mayor for four-year terms. The Board meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. This Board, established by K.S.A. 12-1222, oversees the operation of the Library facility and programs. Members of this Board must be City residents.Norton Recreation Commission
Norton Recreation Commission is a five-member board with two members appointed by the City Council for four-year terms.The Commission meets the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. This Commission oversees the conduct of and the operation of the supervised system of recreation.Norton City-County Airport Board
Norton City-County Airport Board is a six-member board with one member appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. The Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. This board shall be the entity and administrative body for the purposes of administrating, managing and controlling the city/county airport.Norton City/County Economic Development Committee
Norton City/County Economic Development Committee is an eleven-member board with two members appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. The Committee meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:45 p.m. This board conducts the joint operation and promotion of economic development within Norton County.Committees of the Norton City Council
