Public Works

The City of Norton Public Works Department maintains 22 miles of streets and four bridges located within the City, which includes street sweeping, snow removal, repairing potholes, painting street markings, storm clean-up and sign maintenance. The crew also replaces sidewalks and curb and gutter when requested through the City’s curb and sidewalk replacement policy.

Water & Sewer Distribution

The Public Works Department also maintains the water and sewer distribution systems. They complete water and sewer taps for new services and repair water leaks as needed. No connection can be made to the city’s water or sewer system without applying for service through the City and paying the appropriate tap and connection fees.

(Water Tap Fees: ¾” water line service = $450; 1” water line service = $500; 2” water line service = $1000; Relocation of service meter or upgrade to 1” = $175.) (Sewer Tap Fees: $75.)

Refuse Department

The Public Works Department also oversees the refuse department. Regular household trash is picked up on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Recyclables are picked up on Friday. Yard waste is picked up from April through November, on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday.
